पंचकर्म
Natural Healing
Panchakarma is a traditional Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation process. It involves a series of therapeutic treatments aimed at balancing the body, mind, and spirit. The word “Panchakarma” translates to “five actions” in Sanskrit, referring to the five main procedures involved:
-
Vamana (Emesis): Induced vomiting to eliminate excess Kapha dosha (one of the three doshas in Ayurveda) from the upper respiratory tract and stomach.
-
Virechana (Purgation): Administering herbal laxatives to cleanse the intestines and remove excess Pitta dosha.
-
Basti (Enema): Introducing medicated oils or decoctions into the rectum to balance Vata dosha and promote elimination.
-
Nasya (Nasal Administration): Instilling herbal oils or powders into the nostrils to clear the nasal passages and balance doshas.
-
Raktamokshana (Bloodletting): Rarely performed but used to purify the blood by removing impurities.
